I’ve been quiet as far as my posts on this site are concerned. The demands of my schedule and my own projects have prevented me from posting as much as I would like. But that hasn’t stopped me from reading and seeing some great nonfiction stories. If you’re looking for some recommendations after seeing the latest Star Wars film, here are a few that might also end up at the Oscars.
Bridge of Spies – Steven Spielberg directed and Tom Hanks starred, need I say more. This was a superb film from beginning to end.
Spotlight – The true story of the Catholic Church’s cover-up of pedophile priests.
Trumbo – The story of Hollywood blacklisted writer Dalton Trumbo. Bryan Cranston’s portrayal is an Oscar worthy performance.
In the Heart of the Sea – I don’t know what the critics didn’t like about this film, but I loved it. I also loved the book. This is a fascinating story well told.
The Wrecking Crew – A documentary about studio session players in the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. Available on Netflix. See it.
I know I’m leaving some films out, but I have a number of other films on my must see list.
Steve Jobs
The Walk
The Big Short
Concussion
The 33
All of the films listed that I did see will be on my best of 2015 list in January.
