This is the story of the 1968 Democratic convention that was held in Chicago and the arrests of ten protest organizers. I happened to watch the documentary within a week of the fortieth anniverary of this event and within a week of the most recent convention, so it took on an extra level of significance.
I first heard of this book from a friend who recommended it. It was described to me as an interesting book about flowers and plants. I can barely keep a potted plant alive, so this wasn’t a book that went to the top of my must read list. Then I read the book The Omnivore’s Dilema also by Michael Polan. That book is about the industrilization of food. I found that book so informative and well written that I decided to give his earlier book a try. I’m glad I did.
The actual story of Charles’ rapid rise is an interesting one and it’s told in a compelling way. But the fact that he has never been to prison and that Griselda, who is personally responsible for hundreds of murders, is now free because of a sex scandal in the prosecutors office leaves you with the impression that justice has not been served.
Dorian Paskowitz is a successfull doctor with a promising future. He becomes disilusioned with his life when he discovers that his wife is cheating on him. A second marriage also ends in divorce. This sets him on a quest for the meaning of life. What he decides is that happiness and health are not dependent on wealth but in living a life free of the pressures of modern day society.

It’s always interesting when you get a chance to see two films on the same subject. In this case I’m referring to the films Chapter 27 and The Killing of John Lennon. Both films are about the killing of John Lennon by Mark David Chapman. Both films use the same source material.
